Many people who live in the Rossland area know Kirsty Exner. Kirsty was raised on skiing at Red Mountain and twice won silver medals at the World Extreme Freeskiing Championships. She also instructs women's ski camps, works as a personal trainer, instructs Pilates, instructs various fitness classes for the local Recreation Departments and judges Freeskiing competitions.
Although it sounds like her schedule is full, full-time employment as a personal trainer is rare in the Kootenays. Most full-time opportunities are based in an athletic or educational facility. Kirsty's methods of training did not fit these moulds. Kirsty inventoried her skills and decided the best way to continue to keep her active lifestyle was to start her own business by offering her services as a personal trainer and instructor. In January of 2004 she started Kirsty Exner's Personal Training
Kirsty calls her personal training "lifestyle oriented" and does not want it to be confused with typical gym workouts. Most of her training sessions include a large serving of Pilates and ball-workouts. Cardio workouts are based on the local lifestyle as they may include skiing, biking and running in the local trails. One of her goals is to have her clients share her passion and enthusiasm for health and well being. She hopes to attain her goals by showing her clients that exercise can be enjoyable and fit their every day lifestyle and schedule. Lifestyle oriented training focuses on feeling stronger and more flexible through enjoyable exercise, not the "no pain no gain" image some people think of when exercise is mentioned.
Kirsty recently earned her BGS with a major in kinesiology and is a certified and insured fitness and Pilates instructor. Her target market includes males and females of all ages, but most of her clients tend to be 30-65 year old health conscious female outdoor enthusiasts. Her desire to help motivate and inspire her clients to reach their fitness goal is very strong and is therefor a part of her business Vision Statement. Testimonials from clients who have taken a Pilates class (including some CFDC staff) with Kirsty are glowing to say the least. Why not see what all the hoopla is about and take a Pilates class with Kirsty yourself?
