Gwen Chernenkoff

Business owner, Gwen Chernenkoff of Genelle, BC came to Community Futures Self Employment Program in November 2014 with a unique business idea. She began the SE Program with a 10-week training course researching and creating a business plan that determined her client base, service offerings and viability. Gwen’s Helping Hands for Seniors was successfully launched in January 2015.

Gwen’s Helping Hands for Seniors is a mobile service that helps senior and disabled clients that are still living in their homes. Gwen provides respite care, light meal preparation, housekeeping and maintenance, as well as transportation to and from medical appointments. This service is available to all residents in Trail, Castlegar and outlying areas addressing the specific needs of our aging and disabled populations. You can find her business profile on Facebook for more information.

Gwen has this to say about the Self Employment Program: “The Self Employment Program allowed me to plan for a better future. As an eligible participant, I received financial assistance and entrepreneurial support for developing my business plan and launching my new business.”
