New Disaster Planning Resource Website Goes Live
Designed with Input from Local Stakeholders for Local Businesses.
TRAIL, BC With the looming potential of a devastating natural or man-made disaster hitting our region, an Economic Resilience Action Plan (ERAP) specifically for the South Kootenay region has been created by local stakeholders to help our businesses prepare for and recover from the inevitable.
Through the leadership of Community Futures Greater Trail along with the financial support of local government and the private sector, a new online communications component for ERAP has been developed and is now live. The URL is www.BizDAP.ca – the Business Disaster Action Plan website.
BizDAP is where you can find the full written ERAP for reference along with relevant planning information for all such as: emergency alerts and news, planning tools, interactive fire, flood, smoke, road, and power outage maps, local links, checklists and much, much more. The site has been reviewed by the RDKB and will be used to convey emergency information to the business community during the next disaster in our region.
While BizDAP is relevant to all residents, the call to action is to help business owners create a business continuity action plan. The plan can help our local businesses survive financial disaster when a tragic event occurs. The website features a planning tool created by business continuity planning expert Colin O’Leary. Colin has over a decade of experience working with businesses to overcome challenges, and is a frequent keynote and subject matter expert at provincial and national conferences.
The tool guides business owners every step of the way. It helps them create checklists for emergency contacts and resources, boilerplate text for communications and notifications, assess their insurance needs, create team/employee specific procedures, and document actions to help minimize loss, speed recovery, and keep cashflow flowing.
“We built the website to make this onerous planning task as simple and user-friendly as possible,” states web designer Ron Perepolkin, CED Coordinator at Community Futures Greater Trail. “We strongly encourage all businesses to take advantage of this free and valuable resource to help get prepared and sleep better at night.”
www.BizDAP.ca was made possible with the financial support of Teck Trail Operations, Fortis BC, the City of Trail, the City of Rossland and the Village of Warfield. Please visit www.BizDAP.ca , and please share and place the link on your website.
