Community Futures of Greater Trail fosters local entrepreneurs through all phases of business from the pre-startup phase to the expansion of existing business. We offer entrepreneurial programs and training, business counselling, loan programs and a business library of resource material to people interested in expanding or starting a business. We also promote, co-ordinate and implement a wide variety of community economic development initiatives within the region.
The South Kootenay Business Centre is a business development program that provides furnished office space, resources and in-house mentoring to mitigate barriers to business for new and expanding firms.
We don't think small when it comes to small business. Flexible, affordable loans are specifically designed to help start, expand, relocate or buy a business in our rural community. Solutions are tailored to meet the needs of individual businesses and decisions are made locally - and quickly.
The Self Employment Program provides eligible participants the opportunity to receive financial assistance and entrepreneurial support while they develop their business plan and when starting a business. If your application for business plan and/or startup support is accepted you will receive your current EI claim rate or $300/week, whichever is greater, for up to a maximum of 48 weeks.
To help you start and run a business, Community Futures of Greater Trail houses the Kootenay Regional Business Library. The library nearly 700 business specific titles, and can be searched right here on our website.
Junior Dragons’ Den
Modeled after the popular television show; Junior Dragons’ Den is the West Kootenay’s call to action for student entrepreneurs aged 12-17 to pitch their business idea to the dragons and create their own summer job/ business. Learn more, visit www.juniordragonsden.ca
